This program, co-facilitated by a senior registered midwife, is designed to meet the needs of young first time Mums. The semester program, focusing on supporting a healthy pregnancy and early months of parenting is planned with input from course participants ensuring the needs of this diverse group are met. Many of the practicalities of parenting are demonstrated and discussed and Mums are given the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about the birth of their child. A critical outcome of this program is the capacity for social networking which contributes significantly to the reduction of post natal depression in single Mums who are often socially isolated.
