OVERVIEW
Basic reading, writing tasks. Students will also view and analyse films and some modern texts such as comics and internet sites.
STAGE 1
LEVEL & NAME : STAGE 1 ENGLISH

FUTURE STUDY : Stage 2 English Pathways or Stage 2 English communications
OVERVIEW
In English you'll study texts ranging from plays and poetry, to more everyday pieces of writing. You'll create your own written and oral texts and also analyse and ask questions questions about works created by others.
The course is varied and flexible and a good stepping stone to Stage 2 English, if you are looking to study at that level.
Satisfies 10 credits of the Literacy component of SACE.

COURSE LENGTH : One Semester

FUTURE STUDY : English Pathways Stage 2 or English Communications Stage 2
OVERVIEW
In English Pathways, you will study texts ranging from short stories to advertising to more eclectic works. You will create your own presentations and written texts and increase your understanding of the English language.
The course is flexible and can be used as a stepping stone to English in Stage 2.

OVERVIEW
English pathways - Graphic Novels & Comics is designed for students who wish to complete an English Pathways course designed around a theme.
You will be encouraged to read and study a variety of graphic novels, as well as research writers and artists of comics. You will create texts ranging from comic scripts, to posters and presentations.
Comics and graphic novels from many different genres and from America, Europe and Japan will be used in the course, so it will cater to all types of tastes!
Satisfies 10 credits of the Literacy component of the SACE.
STAGE 2
LEVEL & NAME : STAGE 2 ENGLISH PATHWAYS
COURSE LENGTH : 1 or 2 SEMESTERS
ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE : Good writing and reading skills
FUTURE STUDY : University or TAFE
OVERVIEW
The course is based around composing and analysing mostly everyday texts. The course includes a language study in an area of interest. Most assessments are 800 words in length.
Satisfies literacy component of the SACE.

COURSE LENGTH : 1 or 2 Semesters
ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE : Good writing and reading skills

OVERVIEW
Students interested in polishing skills through composing and reading a variety of texts, including everyday texts such as advertising, novels, short stories, poetry and films, will find this course beneficial. The course includes some creative writing. Most assessments are 1000 words in length.
